No progress visible in Pak-India ties as long as Modi in power: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said there was little hope for improvement in Pak-India ties as long as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in power, reported Radio Pakistan.

"No progress is visible in Pakistan-India relations as long as Narendra Modi is in power in New Delhi," said Aziz in an interview.

He, however made it clear that Pakistan wants de-escalation of tensions with India for the collective good of the entire region.

Sartaj Aziz added that Pakistan will continue diplomatic efforts for improvement of ties with India.

The adviser further said that Pakistan would never compromise on its "principled stand on Kashmir" and continue to extend political, moral, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris struggling to get their inalienable right to self-determination.

About Afghanistan, he said Pakistan will continue its reconciliatory role for bringing peace to the neighbouring country.

He appreciated the model of agreement between Afghan government and Hizb-e-Islami chief Gulbadin Hekmatyar and added that Pakistan would welcome the dialogue if any other group wanted to hold talks according to that model.

Sartaj Aziz has no idea what he is saying. This statement is an acknowledgement about the failure of diplomacy and foreign affairs management by the present government. This government is not capable to take on challenges, and this statement is an acknowledgment of failure. When Modi came to Lahore to visit Nawaz, at that time Modi was a nice man and it was success of the foreign policy? Failure of Nawaz Govt. in managing Foreign Affairs.

Narendra Modi and BJP won votes on being anti-Pakistanis (videos are online, just search them) so a constructive peace process was never on his agenda. A couple of hours in Lahore was more a drama for international media. Pakistan can only wait untill he gets voted out

Mr.Aziz was there any improvement pak-india relations before modi came to power.It was same old.Vajpayee visited Lahore in bus ,then Kargil war came in return.Modi invited sharif to swearing and visited grandaughter's wedding, Pathankot came in return.Why should Indians offer olive branch always?

One is ashmed to read such statment by an adviser to the Prime Minister. Has he forgotten what a democracy stand for. Well maybe he has his own experience of such non exitance democracy in Pakistan for decades. Our leaders have habit of such loose talk. Modi is elected by people and thus cannot removed like the past of Pakistan leaders by army. Fce the fcts of democractic world
