HYDERABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders, workers and supporters attended a number of simple ceremonies held at various places across Sindh to celebrate the 28th birthday of their chairman, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday.
At a programme held in the Hyderabad Club, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information Maula Bux Chandio, Saghir Qureshi, Fayyaz Shah and Dr Irfan Gul Magsi congratulated their party chief on his birthday and wished him all the best in his life and political career.
Mr Chandio, speaking at the ceremony, said Mr Bhutto-Zardari was destined to lead Pakistan in future.
He said the PPP would become stronger and the nation would prosper under the bold leadership of the political heir of party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
He appreciated Mr Bhutto-Zardari’s spirit to celebrate his birthday with the destitute and physically challenged people. Mr Chandio recalled that his mother, Benazir Bhutto, had also done the same when she chose to solemnise her wedding ceremony at Lyari’s Kakri ground.
Another birthday programme was held at the residence of Dr Irfan Gul Magsi where Mr Chandio and several other PPP leaders spoke to the participants.
CM’s special assistant on irrigation Babar Effendi and many other leaders and activists were present.
A splendid display of fireworks was held to celebrate the occasion.Similar simple ceremonies were held in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Ghotki and Kandhkot Kashmore where PPP leaders and workers arranged langar and distributed gifts among the poor.
A large number of people attended a birthday programme held at the Peoples Secretariat in Jacobabad.
A big cake was cut and local leaders including Bahadur Ali Mugheri, Deedar Jakhrani, Rafiq Ahmed Weesar, Jahangir Khoso and Muhammad Siddiq Lahar spoke to the participants of the celebration.
Taimoor Ali Mahar, the political assistant of an adviser to the CM, visited Mirpurkhas to arrange for a langar for the poor people in connection with the birthday celebration.
Speaking to journalists at the local press club, Mr Mahar said he was here on a directive of Mr Bhutto-Zardari, who asked him to arrange for the langar instead of a cake-cutting ceremony for selected people.
Mr Mahar also visited the district jail, an orphanage, Baitul Maal and other such places to distribute gifts and food among prisoners, special citizens and poor women and children.
Jubilant workers along with the poor men, women and children attending the feast prayed for the long life and health of Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and paid homage to his mother, Benazir Bhutto.
