LAHORE: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) will announce results of the 2016 annual intermediate examinations, part-I and II (composite), on Sept 17 at 10am.

“The names of position holders will be announced on Sept 16 (6pm) in a press conference by BISE Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Ismael,” a spokesman for the board said on Tuesday.

He said MNA Hamza Shahbaz would distribute prizes among position holders at a ceremony in Aiwan-i-Iqbal on Sept 17.

Defence Day: Various departments of the Punjab University (PU) on Tuesday organised events to celebrate Defence Day with national fervour.

PU College of Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES) organised a debating competition and a tableau by the students on the theme of the day. Documentaries were also screened showing the valour of Pakistan Army.

CEES Principal Prof Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmad and guest speaker Maj Nasir addressed the participants highlighting the significance of the Defense Day.

The event was attended by a large number of students.

PU Centre for Clinical Psychology organised an event where students presented documentaries, poems, national songs, speeches and dramas to pay tribute to the armed forces. Students also made a human flag to express unity.

CCP Director Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar appreciated the efforts of students and teachers.

The event was concluded with prayers for the country’s safety and prosperity.

Meanwhile, the university’s examinations department issued a schedule for submission of admission fee and forms for MBA and MCom parts I, II and III annual examinations 2016.

According to a spokesman, the last date for submission of forms for these exams with single fee is Sept 26 and with double fee Sept 29.

TRIBUTE: Punjab University’s Institute of Mass Communication on Tuesday paid tribute to senior journalist Zahid Malik, who passed away recently.

In a condolence reference held by the department, speakers, including Dr Mehdi Hasan, Dr Waqar Malik and Dr Nausheena, said Pakistan Observer editor-in-chief Mr Malik’s journalistic and academic services were unforgettable. He was among the bright students of the first batch of the university’s mass communication department established in 1960.

Mr Malik’s book on journalism was still considered worth reading, benefitting a large number of students of mass communication, they added.
