SELLING organs illegally in Punjab is, believe it or not, becoming common. People from developed countries come here to buy them. Pakistan stands in danger of becoming ‘the’ market for organ trade.
The World Health Organisation estimates that human organ trafficking is very common. Many patients from abroad have undergone transplants from unrelated donors in Lahore and Rawalpindi alone. The issue is growing and soon provinces other than Punjab may be affected.
The health authorities must stop the trafficking of human organs, and ensure safety for every citizen.
