Man kills newborn daughter

KASUR: A man allegedly strangled his newborn daughter and buried her in the courtyard of his house at Herjoki village on Sunday.

Police arrested the suspect on the complaint of his wife and exhumed the body.

Shamim Bibi complained to police that she gave birth to a baby girl on the night between Saturday and Sunday at a maternity centre where her sister Ghulam Fatima and brother-in-law Muhammad Sarwar brought her. She alleged that no sooner had she returned home with the newborn than her husband Sher Alam, who blew his top on hearing about the girl’s birth, got hold of her (newborn) and strangled her.

Alam, alleged his wife, dug up a grave in the courtyard of his house and buried the newborn without any remorse.

Shamim’s sister Fatima informed police who arrested Alam, a kiln worker in Chunian, and recovered the body of the newborn from the temporary grave. Police registered a case against Alam under sections 302, 311 and 201 of PPC.

This is absolutely horrifying. The fact that this behavior exists is disgusting. What's worse is that the man's actions were somehow justified in his eyes. Something needs to be done, we cannot allow these things to happen again.

We should also see the reasons beyond heinous crimes ,We have to educate more on family planning & population control specially in poor families.... Its easy to give birth but hard to feed a living life for so many poor persons like this " kiln worker" who have taken an extreme inhuman step.

I am a father of 9 months old baby. And literally she is the best part of my life.I sleep looking at her and wakes up looking at her. Kisses her forehead before leaving for Office. I honestly got tears in my eyes reading about this news. How come a father do this to the blessings of Almighty. These acts were done by Ka'afirs before Islam. How come such thought came in the mind of the father. May Almighty rest this beautiful soul in peace. And bless her mother with Sabr

Giving daughter to strangers in marriage was considered a shameful act in Arab lands in pre-Islam era. Therefore, they were buried alive on birth. Just like this savage, who had the heart even to strangle a new born daughter before burying without rites.

This should shake the rulers of this country but they are so busy with antics of their own that it will not even come to their notice. The ruling party the opposition should be ashamed that a man killed his daughter! Neglect, outdated mindset or poverty the ruler shall be answerable for this small kid who lived for a few hours! Shameful indeed!
