LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) on Saturday assured the divisional administration of making the newly developed underground electricity system operational at the Greater Iqbal Park on Aug 2 under a shutdown schedule in the area.

A Lesco representative assured this to a meeting held to review the pace of work on the Greater Iqbal Park. He also told the administration that all electricity poles would be removed by Aug 6, a spokesman for the divisional administration quoted proceedings of the meeting in a press release.

Participants in the meeting, presided over by Commissioner Abdullah Sumbal, were also told by the Parks and Horticulture Authority director general that the authority would start grassing work at the park on Sunday (today).

Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner directed the PHA to follow the deadline fixed for various tasks regarding central lake, historical doors, main boulevard, parking etc. He said the work on installation of fountains must be launched within a couple of days.

TRANSFERS: LDA Director General Nabeel Javed issued a notification for mutual transfer of Muhammad Asad Ameer, director land development-I, and Salma Suleman, director land record management.
