KARACHI: ICI Pakistan and UK-based Cogent Breeding have entered into a partnership to bring quality artificial insemination products to the Pakistani livestock market.
The synergy between the two companies will see ICI Pakistan exclusively import and distribute Cogent’s bovine semen. However, a state of the art production facility will also be established in Pakistan, according to an announcement on Tuesday.
With a livestock population of around 76m, there is a scarcity of quality bulls available for breeding and locally produced insemination products are in short supply.
Vice president Life Sciences and Strategy, ICI Pakistan, Samie Cachmiri said: “We are delighted to embark on this venture with Cogent Breeding in the field of artificial insemination and genetics.”
According to him the project brings ICI Pakistan Ltd Life Sciences closer to becoming a complete dairy farm management solution provider.
“It aligns well with our company’s current extensive portfolios of animal health products, as well as our overarching goal of cultivating growth”, he added.
