LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) will introduce customised waste containers moveable with the help of motorcycle rickshaws.

Containers pull-able with the help of motorcycle rickshaws will be introduced inside the walled city area in order to efficiently collect and transport waste from narrow streets.

“Final design prepared in consultation with the competent authority, walled city residents and the field staff has been approved and trialed after a pilot study.

Initially, at least 37 waste containers will be introduced in eight union councils of the walled city and the number will be increased upon its success,” said a spokesman for the LWMC.

In a press release issued here on Monday, the spokesman said the company was considering introducing such waste collection mechanism in those areas where the streets were narrow and the heavy machinery inaccessible.
