RAWALPINDI: President Ayub today [July 25] called upon the people to sink their political differences and work unitedly for the progress and prosperity of the country. No country, he said, could progress without honest and devoted work by the people for the common good of the nation.

The President was speaking at a function of the Central Office of the Pakistan Muslim League where he signed the enrolment form of primary membership of the Islamabad Muslim League. This marked the formal launching of the countrywide enrolment campaign of the Pakistan Muslim League being reorganised under the new constitution of the party.

President Ayub said the programme of development and progress of any country could not proceed unless there was stability. The politicians might want politicking and try to find expression through frequent changes of Governments.

This situation might help such politicians personally but was not good for the country and for its progress. A change for the sake of change was no objective to work for, he said.

President Ayub deplored the role of the Opposition parties which, he said, tried to create disruption and discontentment among the people.

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from Washington,] the new Asian Development Bank, a one-billion-dollar venture by 31 countries, will have no vaults, but will keep its cash in the United States, Japan or London, the US Congress has been told.

In testimony before the House of Representatives Appropriations Sub-Committee of Foreign Assistance, released on Sunday, the Under-Secretary of the Treasury, Joseph W. Barr, said the new development bank has been provided with temporary quarters rented by the Philippine Government in Manila.
