MUZAFFARGARH: A child abuse scandal has surfaced in Kot Addu where, according to police, a gang has sexually assaulted 26 children.
The gang also made videos of rape of the children to blackmail their parents and prevent them from going to police.
District Police Officer Malik Awais Ahmed told Dawn that they had arrested three people on the complaint of children who had been kidnapped and raped.
A resident of Ward No 14 approached police with the complaint that his 12-year-old child had gone missing from home last month. After two days, he said, he was found unconscious in a street. The child told parents that a man of the locality had kidnapped and raped him and the perpetrators also made videos of the crime.
The parents initially hesitated going to police but reported the incident after which the DPO assigned the case to the CIA police. When police started investigating the case, the parents of five more children also came forward and narrated their ordeal saying they did not earlier report the matter to police because of fear of disrepute.
The main complainant of the case told reporters that last month his child went missing and he approached police when he did not return home. After two days the child was found in the street, he said, adding that he alleged rape by the gangsters.
The DPO said three people had been arrested and they had confessed to kidnapping and raping 26 children.

If those who abused the children of Kasur had been exemplary punishment perhaps this abuse at Kot Addu would not have happened. And for those whose memory still serves Kot Addu has always been in the news for the wrong reasons. After all it is home to the ancestral home of the Khars who have a penchant for the deviant.

This is not a tolerate able crime. The government should make strong legislation and teaching to kids even at school how to keep your self protected. But some how we as a parents do not care our children to keep them safe from predators. we need to look after them and teach them properly almost no kid have any idea what could be happen to him due to lack knowledge about the beasts of society. I am afraid due to our so called ghairat we don like to talk with kids on such matters which ruined there life.

First Kusur, than Swat and now Kot Adu is nothing but a question mark on our collective responsibilty. An individual who find himself entangled in fighting his/her own existence in a situation wherein no one is still ready to focus upon the evils happening around us and to report them to the authorities in order to purge the society from the beasts desguised as humans is an ominous signs of our dead conscience. This does not mean that the evil is in the regions just mentioned above, it is in every nook and corner of the country. Let us ready ourselves to accept our responsibilty in order to rise our heads with dignity. It is hoped that the vitims would avail justice and the case is not put into the abbess of oblivion like the fate of the other past incidence of child sexual exploitation. Well done down for consistently bringing the issues to the lame light.

When abuse with children is a taboo topic to be discussed, and such incidents are not condemned by notables and religious clergy, the result is the horrific continuity of such crimes. With regard to child abuse... there is no honour in remaining silent. If such incidents are reported swiftly to the authorities, such ghastly gangs lose the power of blackmail and can instead be held accountable for their hideous crimes. Parents must be supported to do this by both police, schools and local communities working together, relevant legislation to facilitate justice and with specialist facilities to help those abused and their families...

What a lawless country, imagine any kind of crime and it becomes doable for people of all walks of life. A country where the so called upper class that is the businessmen, corrupt politicians and bureaucrats, other officials down to neighborhood thugs can commit crime without penalty. God knows who will and when will this lawlessness end. We as a nation have experimented with all facets of crime and still climbing and rising in the crime field.
