LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Ghulam Mohyuddin Dewan won the Lahore seat of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir election.

According to unofficial result, Mr Dewan got 1,689 votes defeating PML-N’s Abbas Mir (945) in LA-37, Valley-II (Lahore).

The PTI workers gathered at the residence of Mr Dewan in Misri Shah and celebrated his victory. They danced to the beat of drums and distributed sweetmeat among the people.

Polling was held in a peaceful manner under the supervision of the army. There were about 4,000 registered voters and 3,000 votes were cast at 10 polling stations in the city.


PML-N bags seats at most places


Talking to reporters outside a polling station in Islampura, PPP candidate Umar Sharif Bokhari complained that women polling agents of his party were not allowed in some polling stations.

In the last election, Mr Dewan won this seat on the PPP ticket.

GUJRANWALA: PML-N candidate Ismail Gujjar was leading in LA-31, Jammu II, and PTI’s Maqbool Gujjar was on second position, according to unofficial result.

Foolproof arrangements of security were made on the occasion.

An LG chairman, Iftikhar Ghazi Butt, allegedly tried to cast bogus votes but the Dhullay police arrested him. He was later released.

GUJRAT: PML-N’s Haji Javed Akhtar clinched the LA-34 election by securing 12,870 votes. Former AJK minister Chaudhry Akbar Ibrahim secured second position by getting 10,905 votes, while PPP’s Amjad Ali Gujjar bagged 976 votes.

NAROWAL: Mian Yasir Rashid of the PML-N won LA-33, Jammu 4, seat in Narowal by securing 27,197 votes. PTI’s Muhammad Akmal Sargala remained on second position with 20,186 votes.

According to reports, the polling process remained suspended for an hour at Nonar polling station due to clashes between the workers of the PML-N and the PTI. Police and army contingents controlled the situation and restored the polling process. Police arrested six PTI workers and registered a case against them.

Polling at Nagwal station also was affected by clash but law enforcers controlled the situation.

MIANWALI: According to unofficial result, PML-N’s Nasir Hussain Dar secured 40 votes, PTI’s Maqsood Zaman (29) and PPP’s Asad Naqvi (2 votes).
