KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and former MPA Advocate Shoaib Bukhari passed away here on Tuesday after a long spell of illness.

His namaz-i-janaza will be performed in Liaquatabad area, family sources said.

Bukhari was elected MPA several times since 1992 and was a member of MQM's Rabita Committee. He was sent to jail in various cases during his political career.

At that time of devastating earthquakes in northern areas of the country, Bukhari headed MQM's welfare organisation — Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation (KKF).

MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi in a tweet announced that MQM founder Altaf Hussain has expressed grief over Bukhari's death.

Pak Sarzameen Party Chief and ex-MQM leader Mustafa Kamal also expressed sorrow over Bukhari's passing away.
