Qandeel's father nominates his two sons in daughter's murder, lodges FIR

MULTAN: Police on Saturday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two persons in Qandeel Baloch murder case, it has been learnt.

The FIR, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, was launched on the complaint of Qandeel's father Azeem, who nominated his two sons Aslam Shaheen and Waseem as main suspects in the case.

Police registered the case under Sections 302 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code which deal with "punishment for willful murder".

It states that Aslam allegedly provoked Waseem to kill Qandeel as she reportedly "brought disrepute to the family". Aslam is currently serving in the army as a Naib Subedar, reads the FIR.

The complainant further said that his sons killed Qandeel for her money.

Qandeel's brother had been reportedly threatening her to stop posting photos and videos on Facebook, police said, adding that her brother fled the scene after killing Qandeel.

The popular social media celebrity's murder is the latest in the spate of "honour killings" that has plague the country.

Police added that Qandeel was in Multan for one week and the forensic experts are examining her corpse to find whether she was poisoned or not.

The initial post-mortem reports, however, confirm that Qandeel was strangled to death. No marks of torture were found on her body.

She was harmless and killing her was an act of evil. However, she should have known that she was pushing the limits in a very conservative society and she should have shown discretion; the change she was trying to highlight is only superficial as Pakistani male dominated society is deeply hypocritical and fearful of strong independent women.

RiP. She was financially supporting her parents,and also bear expenses of her sister's marriage. She has been appearing in social media for a long time, than all of a sudden her brothers got annoyed and dislike her to such an extent of ' honor killing',but her father says her brothers killed her for money,and that's seems true.

I feel sad for her father , does her all sibilungs was jealous for her success? I feel soo, they killed her but her father take a revenge against of his sons and daughters ... Of course he loved his beautiful daughter .. This kind of situation happen with thousands of women , unsucess married life, torcher , divorce ,,,, and a freedom of life some time hateble of double standard of male dominate society .. According to her husband her brothers were benefiting from her earning for a long time and suddenly they realize honor and killed her and took her mobile and money and ran away. There is something fishy in this case.

@manish :It is not Qandeel's father's "revenge" on his sons. He is seeking justice for the horrid killing of his daughter who was supporting her family! How many more before Pakistan wakes up? PM Bhutto was also murdered, just like Sabeen Mehmud, just like Governor Taseer--and many more!

It is indeed a very big tragedy. Qandeel Baloch had a good life ahead and a lot of ambitions, she was a pioneer, a strong step of evolution, she stretched the imagination of younger people, and set an example for change. Change is the only best thing we can do to evolve or to exist. Now she is gone. It is indeed a very big tragedy! :

She has been on the social media for along time, Why was the brother enraged now. The case is not that simple, it aggravated after Mulana Qavi's case, he & his followers May have something to do by emotionally pressurisinng the brother to take this drastic step. Police should also investigate the journalists who all of a sudden started digging her past and brought her husband's to limelight. No doubt her brother stangled her, but there is a wider angle of revenge, scheming and hyporicy.
