ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday directed the concerned authorities to make arrangements for the return of bodies of nine Pakistanis who were killed in a fire incident in Kuwait.

The Secretary Human Resource along with Overseas Pakistanis Foundations (OPF) has been asked to work in coordination with Foreign Office or Pakistan embassy, a PM's Office statement said.

Family of Muhammad Asif which included his wife, two sons, two daughters, mother, sister-in-law and a nephew was burnt to death when fire broke out in their house late Thursday night in Farwaniya area.

The prime minister also directed Foreign Office and OPF to establish the identity of deceased, get in touch with their families and keep them updated.

He ordered to provide financial compensation to the bereaved family as an expat worker within three days.

A fire which broke out at a villa housing expatriate workers in Kuwait on Thursday killed nine Pakistani residents including children and injured 23.

Six people, at least one of whom was a child, suffocated to death after a blaze tore through a house that had been subdivided into multiple residences in Farwaniya, a suburb 15 km south of Kuwait City, and three others died from injuries in hospital, a Kuwaiti Fire Service Directorate spokesman had said.
