ISLAMABAD: A national plantation campaign would kick off on Aug 14, said the federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid on Wednesday, adding that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would launch the Green Pakistan Program­­me and inaugurate the Monsoon Tree Planting Campaign 2016.Mr Hamid said this while chairing an inter-provincial meeting on the tree plantation campaign and Green Pakistan Prog­r­a­mme at the ministry of climate change.

The meeting decided that federal, provincial and local governments would make arrangements for planting trees in Islamabad and provincial, divisional, district and tehsil headquarters.

Suitable sites, they said, would be selected at each station while facilities to plant trees would be provided by government departments concerned.
