KARACHI: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday visited the home of qawwal Amjad Sabri in Liaquatabad and met his family to offer his condolence while vowing that the killers would be brought to justice.

Accompanied by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and senator of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Nehal Hashmi, Mr Dar visited the densely-populated neighbourhood under strong and elaborate security arrangements. He offered Fateha and stayed with the family for a while to share his thoughts and convey condolence message from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also shares the grief of the bereaved family,” he said. “The contribution of the Sabri family to the art of qawwali cannot be forgotten. It’s everyone’s loss and the government as well as our law enforcement agencies have a resolve that the killers would be brought to justice.”

Later, the finance minister visited the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) to meet Abdul Sattar Edhi, the founding chief of the country’s largest charity.

“The federal minister also met chief of SIUT Professor Dr Adeebul Hasan Rizvi and inquire after the health of Abdul Sattar Edhi,” said a Governor House statement. “He also spent time with Bilquees Edhi and Faisal Edhi to convey well wishes and prayers for Abdul Sattar Edhi’s early recovery. He also conveyed a message of goodwill from the prime minister to Abdul Sattar Edhi.”

The finance minister also met the SHC CJ in his chamber on Friday and informed him about the efforts being made for the recovery of his son.
