MIRPURKHAS: Mirpurkhas Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) chairman Barkat Ali Haidery on Wednesday finally succeeded in implementing an order issued by the competent authority to replace its controller of examination after months of political expediency that had been disturbing the board’s affairs.

Abdul Hafeez, a political activist wielding absolute influence of his party, never obeyed the chairman’s orders ever since the competent authority approved his removal as the controller of examination.

There were widespread complaints of large scale corruption made against Mr Hafeez over the past few years. Several official moves made over the past few months to relieve Mr Hafeez of his charge had failed.

A provincial government notification signed by A. Fateh Shaikh and addressed to the Mirpurkhas BISE chairman was issued on May 26 stating: “In view of the recommendations of facts finding committee, it has been decided to withdraw the charge of controller of examination from Mr Abdul Hafeez”.

However, Mr Hafeez refused to give up and vowed to continue resisting all such orders.

On Wednesday, Mr Haidery handed over the charge of the controller of examination to Engineer Anwer Ali Khanzada on a temporary basis.

A number of BISE employees were seen congratulating one another and distributing sweets over the new development.

Mr Haidery was quoted as telling them that the board’s affairs would not become normal and promised that more measures would be taken to bring an end to corruption that had been affecting students and board employees alike for years.
