KARACHI: A 24-year old girl was found shot dead and dumped near Seaview, in the metropolis’ Defence Housing Authority area on Saturday.
The body was recovered from a ditch in Phase VIII, said Sahil police SHO Manzoor Khoso.
“Death occurred due to a single gunshot wound to the head,” said Khoso.
The girl was a resident of Gulistan-e-Johar and has been missing since June 5. Her parents had lodged a missing person report at Shahra-e-Faisal police station, which was converted into FIR (336/2016) under section 365 of Pakistan Penal Code, said Gulshan SP, Dr Fahad Ahmed.
The police on Friday had detained Babar Solangi, a resident of Clifton, who during interrogation had “confessed” killing the girl on June 6 and dumping her body near Seaview, added the officer.
After the suspect’s confession, the body was recovered on Saturday.
Shahra-e-Faisal police officer added the victim was working at the local Nadra office in Clifton, where the suspect’s father also worked and they became ‘familiar’ with each at the office.
A spent bullet casing of a 9mm pistol was recovered from the crime scene.
