KARACHI: Former Pakistani skipper and cricket legend Javed Miandad on Monday described Inzamam-ul-Haq-led selection committee of the PCB as “one-man show.”

Inzamam heads a panel that includes former opening batsman Wajahatullah Wasti, Tauseef Ahmed, an offspinner who played 34 Tests and 70 ODIs, and seam-bowling all-rounder Wasim Haider, who played three ODIs and over 100 first-class and List A matches.

“Inzamam-ul-Haq has got all the yes men in his committee,” Miandad told the media persons here.

The former skipper said that selection committee should not destroy the cricket of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal.

The two players were axed from the fitness camp on disciplinary grounds.

To a question about Pakistan’s upcoming tour of England, he said that it would be a tough challenge for Misbah eleven.

“The England tour had always been difficult for Pakistan,” he said.

It is very easy to criticize from the sidelines. This is the first selection of the Pakistan cricket team by Inzemam and the selectors. The ink hasn't dried yet and criticism has started. Why can't the critics be supportive and cooperative. I guess we are a very angry bunch and are hard to please. We do not like or trust anybody's judgement because we know everthing. Very sad!

I request Miandad to give Inzamam some space and liberty of action. It's not necessary to criticism each and every action of others. I admire Inzamam's action on Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Akmal. These two players have no place in our national team.

Shehzad and Akmal are not kid who will distroy. If they deserve place they they have to earn it.Discipline is important. remaining selectors may have little experience but they should have right attitude for job .By going through their decisions they are on track give them some time.

Miandad is sincere man but no one ready to listen this legend, i do not know why there is step motherly treatment of PCB with this man and why his expertise is not being utilized properly for the pakistan cricket. Every time he is found crying by advising to ensure merit in game without cost, creed, colour, religion, regionalism, cronyism, provincialism etc but of no avail. Now our PCB has been the verge of collapse, there is end of international team visit in our country, other countries team who never in our competition has been strong cricket team of world but we are going down day by day due to tug of war and professional jealousy with each other. this man Javed miandad may be given free hand so that this drown boat of pakistan cricket could be swim-ed and again the name of pakistan cricket should be counted in successful countries.

Miandad is correct to call this selection committee a one man show. Wajahatullah Wasti a useless cricketer is made the selector on what basis? Selection committee members should be selected on the basis of their ability to logically analyze and pick players best fitted for all pitches and formats. However, I fully agree with Inzi's stance to drop the egoistic wannabees i.e. Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shahzad. Keep them dropped until they behave properly, don't get involved in politics and player power, and give 100% each time they play for the country.

Very disappointing to see Javed Miandad talking in favor of Umar Akmal. He has done nothing to prove his "immense talent" time and again. Even after an extended run over many years. Difficult to buy the argument regarding his batting position as good batsmen do well at ANY position. He is no kid. As for Shehzad, he needed some time on the sidelines so he can work on a few issues in his batting, foremost being slow scoring in limited overs cricket and inability to take singles and doubles regularly when boundaries dry up.

Dear Javed Bhai, this is from your childhood fan. Please give the new selection committee some time and space to perform. Yes, England tour will be difficult and we seriously need to be disciplined. Please for once, try giving some supportive and positive remarks. You have tremendous amount of experience of English conditions. Your batting tips would be seriously considered.

@Syed Qutub Ahmed .I am in total agreement with you.what did he achieved as a director general of PCB except hefty salary.it is very unfortunate that these veteran are always there to criticize,non of them comes forward to help,advise or lead the new comer's.all they want is a post in PCB,a hefty salary or otherwise they are there to criticize.what have they achieved in their playing days except for oneor two.what was their ranking ?.

Miandad remains the vocal supporter of discipline yet ignoring this fact when it comes to ahmed shahzad and omar akmal. I think Javed Miandad should give some time to Inzi and hope he might show some progress. Be patient and no to hurry.

One Man's show or Yes Men's show , its a mistake ( which will prove itself sooner than later ) to have made this guy a chief selector , All his career he Never paid any respect to own physical fitness , never was any top class fielder at all ( the two must ingredients to be a better cricketer ), have had hands in getting lots of batmen run out just to prolong his own innings , Yes he scored lot of runs that's all goes in his credit , how on earth a job of chief selector can be given to him based upon just One aspect of a game while , he was a Zero in Bowling , a pathetic person to be even looked at a player , and a Sherman Tank while running between the wickets ..... The PCB led cricket will go further down the hill cos this Guy " as Miandad said , had all the low key players in their time , around him as selection committee "

Inzi has been my all time fav batsman but step he against Shahzad and Akmal is very sad. I thought he would back and nurture them. I believe it's the time to give respect to these two. It's loss to not let them play. You are gona need them in English tour.

i totally agree. this vendetta against two of Pakistans best players does not bode well for the tour. Discipline them if you must, but this punishment attitude is not the culture any successful cricket board should want to promote as its modus operendi. Inzi smacks of absolutism. The last thing we want seeping into cricket is the "morality" argument. We wouldn't have the likes of Imran Khan playing for Pakistan if the current selection committe was in vogue at the time.

Mr. Miandad is 100% correct about Inzzy. Do not expect much from a coach that refuses to wear the Team Uniform. Inzzy will covert the dressing room in to a Tablighi Class, and those who disagree will be thrown out. For sake of Pak Cricket I hope his stay will be short. PCB does not stop making mistakes.

As usual, we will always complain no matter what and in this particular case, before the new management even gets started. If I am given the task to appoint and run a committee, I will NATURALLY bring in people that I know I will be able to work with. That's what Inzamam has done and he's already being label as one-man show. Some people need to realize that they had a good run. If they want to contribute something "POSITIVE", by all means they speak up otherwise, kindly hold their peace forever.

Miandad is talking sense, as usual. Inzamam is clueless, just like when he was a captain. This is the guy who doubted his own ability and had to be pushed to go out and express himself, who knows what he will do to the confidence of others. Yes his late drives were amazing, BUT the disgusting way he treated Asim Kamal and Misbah by keeping him out the team a few years back kind of tells you half the story.

The more thing change the more they are the same. Shezad and Akamal were going to be axed regardless. Asides from that what has changed really? Its the same old failed players. Fawad is not there and Khurram Mansoor and company still are. I mean when a player like Khurram is "shocked" by his own selection, thats all you need to know about the status of PK cricket.

Nobody is satisfied with others,I knew soon old cricketers will start criticism new coach,selection committee,new captain,and players etc.So the first episode has started . When Ahmed Shazam and Umer Akmal were in team ,these old players talk about their ouster from the team and now they are out and these old players are getting involved in politics and making it an issue.

I think INZY has selected very good team and rightly left Ahemed Shahazad and Umar Akmal out. Only one thing is pinching - Why Fawad Alam has not been considered? In my opinion he should have been in. Although Inzy is in better position to to decide.

This is the greatest problem with our system.Any one who is bold enough to take drastic steps to discipline out players who have repeatedly shown to be unmanageable are put under pressure to review their stance.Javed Mian Dad,no doubt had been a great player,but his comments at crucial time are clearly to put the concerned party under immense pressure.Let Inzmmam work,sir,the party has just started.

Could not disagree more. Nothing wrong in having a dictator as a selector. Imran Khan, one of the most successful, liked and respected captain of our team, was also dictatorial in his dealings.

I agree with the Committee's (or Inzamam's) decision to not include Ahmed Shahzad and Umer Akmal. Because these two very talented players may perform well on occasions, but their self centered attitudes can have very negative effects on the unity and overall performance of the team in the long term. And until Ahmed Shehzad and Umer Akmal can make those attitude changes, they should be kept out. Watching England overpower Sri Lanka shows our team is going to have a tough time over there. But I would rather watch them lose by a larger margin without Shahzad and Akmal, than lose by a smaller margin with the two in the team.

Although I'm a big Miandad fan, I'd like to disagree with him. Let others do their jobs and decide whether they're good or not later. Both Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shahzad has issues and were dropped solely due their own doings. I'm sure if you were directly involved with them then you would had done the same. There's a reason everyone only picked on those two. Despite of their talent, discipline is the key for the team to succeed. Look at KP and ECB's stance. As for the selectors, they may not all have played enough Test Cricket but have seen through the First Class circuit. They have plenty of cricket under their belt. According to your logic only legends can be better coaches and administrators. Let's just wait and see the outcome.

Javed Miandad is deliberately trying to create a furor in Cricket Administration, I revere his contribution towards Pakistan Cricket but this time he sound jealousy because a Junior like Inzamam has been awarded such a great position, I am pretty sure if Miandad is replaced with Inzamam with regard to position, Miandad will definitely keep silence. (Actuall Inzamam deserve that position).

As I have pointed out previously, that problem starts at the top. If we don't fix the root cause it will continue in different forms and shapes. Lack of effective checks and balances. There should be a written standard of minimum qualification to be a selection committee member. If it does exist and Inzi is following it, then we have to wait and see his performance. But if there is no standards defined then it is PCB's fault. In general, most of the professionals like to have capable people in their teams who can make them all look good. But in our country it is opposite, unfortunately.
