SUKKUR: In a rare happening in upper Sindh, the ruling passed by a jirga (tribal court) was rejected by the defence side when it ordered the errant group to pay a fine/compensation of Rs3.3 million to the aggrieved side after finding them guilty of a murder.

The jirga was presided over by Badshah Khan Gadani in Nazar Ali Khan Gadani village near Khanpur Mahar town of Ghotki district on Thursday to settle a dispute over the honour killing of Raza Moahmmed Gadani five years ago.

After hearing the two side, it found the group led by Yar Mohammed Khan Gadani guilty and ordered it to pay Rs3.3 million to the group led by Haji Shahul Gadani.

The defendants rejected the jirga ruling and declared that the hostility between the two sides over the dispute would continue.
