LAHORE: Female students got distinctions at the Inter-Universities Flower and Painting Competitions 2016 at the Government College University on Wednesday.

The theme of the competition was “Three R’s: reduce, reuse and recycle’. Students from different universities, including the Lahore College for Women’s Universities and the University of Education, took part in the dry flower and painting competitions to raise awareness among students about the physiological impact of overall physical environment on human beings.

Positions in fresh flower (centre), dry flower, T-shirt painting, poster painting and fresh flower (corner) contests were secured by the female participants from different universities.

GCU Botany Alumni Association President Ajmal Raheem said it seemed that females had better aesthetics sense. However, GCU-HS Adviser Prof Dr Zaheeruddin credited meagre participation of boys to this great achievement of female students.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hasan Amir Shah gave away certificates and shields to Iram Iqbal, Ayesha Ghulam Nabi, Wajeeha, Iqra Iqbal, Maryam Abid, Fizza Shahzad and Darakshan.
