MANSEHRA: Six people a woman and her two children among them were killed and as many were injured when a passenger wagon fell into a deep ravine in Nimal Khatta area of Oghi on Saturday evening.

“Six people were killed and another six sustained critical injuries when a passenger van fell into a ravine,” Zulfiqar Khan Jadoon, the deputy superintendent of police in Oghi, told reporters. He said a police team led by the concerned SHO was taking part in the rescue activities and shifting the injured to the civil hospital, Oghi.

The wagon was on its way to Darband from Oghi. The driver lost control over the steering while overtaking a truck, as a result, it veered off the road and fell into the gorge.

The victims were identified as driver Shahnawaz, Mohammad Sabir, Mohammad Sultan, while identities of the woman and her two children could not be ascertained.

Murtaza Tanoli, the district naib nazim, told reporters at the scene that that heavy trucks loaded with mineral excavated in Tanawal had destroyed the roads which caused accidents.
