LAHORE: The College of Home Economics (CHE) students have won the first prize in a grand cooking competition organised jointly here on Thursday by College of Tourism and Hotel Management and International Halal Conference Exhibition.

Students from 12 universities displayed their culinary expertise in the contest where they were assigned five-course cuisines from different regions of the world including Pakistan, Thai, Chinese, Italian.

The judgment criteria included the quality, taste, presentation and innovation of the dishes.

Five students -- Aimen Jalil, Huma Shahzad, Rabia AKhtar, Arooba Akhtar, Mahnoor Najeeb -- prepared a full course of Thai cuisine and bagged the first prize. The college was awarded a shield and a cash prize of Rs25,000.
