ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday appointed Zahid Hamid, a leader of PML-N, as law minister.

According to an official announcement, Mr Hamid will have additional charge of the minister for climate change.

Mr Hamid was inducted in the cabinet as law minister when the PML-N came into power after 2013 general elections. But, he had to resign shortly because he was being labelled as a supporter of former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Mr Hamid was law minister in Mr Musharraf’s cabinet when he imposed emergency in the country on Nov 3, 2007.

He had joined the PML-N after the 2008 general elections.
