ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani will arrive here on Friday on a two-day official visit to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral relations.

The Iranian leader is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The visit is particularly significant in the wake of the lifting of sanctions on Iran that has opened new avenues for enhancing trade and commerce cooperation between the two countries.

This will be Dr Rouhani’s first visit to Pakistan as the president of Iran. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, senior officials and businessmen. During his stay, the Iranian president will hold talks with President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Sharif.
