QUETTA: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Thursday claimed to have arrested 14 members of the Afghan Taliban during a raid at Quetta's Pashtoonabad area.

The militants were picked up from a compound located by security forces, a senior official who declined to be named as he was not authorised to speak to the media told DawnNews.

The men were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

"It is premature to say something about the arrest of any high profile leader among them", the official said.

He said further information would be shared with the media after interrogation.

Sleeping bags, boots and administrative objects were also recovered from the possession of the detained men.

Strict security measures were taken during the raid at the compound and a large number of security personnel were deployed to avert any untoward incident.

Pashtoonabad is located in the eastern part of Quetta. The area houses a large number of Afghan refugees, who have been living there for over three decades.

Alleged members of the Afghan Taliban have been picked up by security forces from Pashtoonabad in the past too.
