Social media

In this fast developing era of science and technology where the world fits inside a smart phone, news from any corner of the globe spreads around the world in just seconds.

Of course the leading role in this is played by the social networking websites; these sites are surely the source of information and news but they are also posing a danger for our society, particularly our youth. Teenagers and children spend hours on these sites leaving their studies and physical activities; and they are also affected ethically and psychologically due to overuse of such sites.

Through this platform, I would like to bring into the knowledge of children that using social networking sites for learning is good but going too far in ‘tagging’, ‘likes’, ‘following’ is a waste of time. Apart from that, I request the YW team to publish articles which bring awareness about this issue so that more kids can stop themselves from deviating from their studies.

Pets are the best

This is regarding the story “Pets are the best” by Sobia Saleem (YW, November, 28, 2015). Though the story is relatively old, the topic can never get old so I want to appreciate the writer for bringing it to the readers’ attention while keeping the story interesting and motivational.

It is a sad fact that many people keeping pets are careless. Though animals are not as intelligent as we are, they are definitely sensible and they expect their owners to love and care for them.

A gift for my parents

This is with reference to the story “A gift for my parents,” by Ali Muhammad Karim (YW, February 20). I appreciate the efforts of the writer for writing on the wonderful topic of the true value of our parents. He advised that we must not force them for things they cannot afford and we should always take care of their needs, too!

It is true that the joys of parents are hidden in the happiness of their kids.

Website review

This regarding the website review “Booktrack” by Asif Ali (YW, February 13). It was a wonderful site to visit. I love reading books on internet but never thought to have background sounds and music to it.

The website offered amazing sounds and effects to help a user find the reading experience different in a cool way. Above all, it offered a way for our own stories to be uploaded and have background sounds added according to its theme. I hope other kids would love it and be inspired to read and write stories.
