SARGODHA: At least seven people, including two children and four women, were killed as lightning struck their house near Puran Chowk area of Punjab's Khushab district in the early hours of Saturday.

A two-storey house collapsed, after it was struck by lightning, trapping its occupants under debris.

At least seven people were killed while eight others were wounded in the incident.

Rescue and emergency teams reached the spot and shifted the victims to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Jauharabad.

A lightning strike is an electric discharge between the atmosphere and an earth-bound object. They mostly originate in the thundercloud and terminate on the ground, called cloud to ground (CG) lightning.
