FAISALABAD: The city police officer suspended from service a traffic police inspector for allegedly thrashing a rickshaw driver publicly.

CPO Afzaal Kausar has issued suspension orders of inspector Rafiq Butt, appointing acting Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Sardar Asif as an inquiry officer to probe into the matter. The CTO has been asked to submit a report on the issue within two days.

Inspector Butt was filmed by a passerby when he was subjecting rickshaw driver Imran outside the city bus station on Sunday. Mr Kausar said strict action would be taken against the police officials misusing their authority.

The victim had reportedly protested against “unjustified” challan slapped on his younger brother who too was a motorcycle-rickshaw driver.
