KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to improve its governance and delivery system by redressing complaints of corruption initially in four public-dealing departments/sectors — registration of property, motor vehicle registration, payment of pension and reimbursement of medical expenditures.

In this connection an ‘EZ-Effective Feedback Redressal Mechanism’ has been developed.

This decision was taken on Sunday at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at CM House.

Under the mechanism, which is likely to be launched by next week with the setting up of its call centre at the finance department, an applicant will receive a call in the voice of the chief minister and an SMS informing him that his application has been received and about its status/process and in case of any problem, the applicant could file his complaint in reply to the SMS.

The meeting participants, including Senior Minister of Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, chief secretary Siddique Memon, additional chief secretary (development) Aijaz Ali Khan, principal secretary to the CM Alamuddin Bullo and other officers concerned and a representative of a private firm, were briefed by finance secretary Sohail Rajput about the redressal mechanism for giving feedback to the public for redressing their grievances, requests and applications.

He said for the purpose a call centre had been established in the finance department initially for four different sectors, such as registration of property, motor vehicle registration, payment of pension and reimbursement of medical expenditures.

“When an applicant files his application, he/she will be informed through an automatic dialling system and a recorded message that the application has been received,” he said.

The chief minister approved the project and directed the finance minister to launch the project.

The chief minister also recorded acknowledgement messages which would be sent to the applicants through automatic dialling system.

The chief minister through the call would address the applicant that his/her application had been received for payment of medical bills/registration of motor vehicle/ registration or mutation of property or payment of pension and it was under process.

“If you face any problem in filing your application or any official has demanded bribe for redressal of the grievance, you must inform me in response to my SMS to be received by you from 9515,” the message by the chief minister read.
