NEW DELHI: An anonymous letter claimed to be from the militant Islamic State (IS) group has threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar over the government’s support for beef ban, Press Trust of India said on Tuesday.
It said Goa Police have circulated the letter to all police stations in the state and handed over the case to the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS).
The postcard threat letter was received at the state secretariat last week following which Goa police swung into action, a senior police official said.
“All the agencies of state police are investigating this letter. We will soon be able to find the source of it,” the police official said.
“ISIS was written at the bottom of the postcard,” the official confirmed.
The letter expressed anger over ban on cow slaughter in the country, PTI said. The letter regardless of its veracity could give traction to Hindutva campaign in a clutch of state polls due in a next few months.

ISIS are out of their minds. They really believe they are a worldwide conglomerate. Their ideology must be being beamed down to them from the Martian's advanced base on the moon.

I would request all Muslims living in India to voluntarily stop slaughtering cows. This would send a strong message to the terrorists that Muslims do not believe in the distorted ISIS ideology. Islam teaches us to live in peace and harmony.

Has it been independently verified... there are fear mongers every where in the world and the biggest one is Donald trump...It could be from the government itself..Part of the reason that the government's fear mongering is succeeding is because so many people are so ignorant, that it is easier for government to frighten people in submission.

India supporting ISIS in Afghanistan, the threatening letter is the first gift in return to their support. India is mingling too much in Afghanistan internal affairs he must learn a lesson from US and NATO involvement in Afghanistan better keep away from the dirty Afghan politics otherwise India will get involve in such a series of terrorist activities that it will be hard keep united India.

@Jawad Ever heard of the phrase, "Aap ruchi Khana?" It means that you should eat according to your tastes. There is no point in forcing ppl to change their eating habits that have gone on for centuries. India is a diverse country with diverse tastes when it comes to food. While the Gujarati Hindus & N.Indian Brahmins are pure vegetarians, the Brahmins of Eastern India and Kashmir enjoy fish and meat. Similarly most Hindus of Kerala eat beef. So there is really no basis of ISIS's understanding. PM Modi will be protected by his countrymen.

Indian Muslims do not need support of ISIS . If some of us oppose beef ban, we will oppose it through legal and rightful means . If we have problem with communal forces (both hindus and muslim forces) , we will fight it as indians. ISIS is an enemy of islam.
