KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Friday a suspected militant to a collective sentence of 21 years in explosive material and illicit weapon cases.

Moosa Khan, said to be associated with banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, was found guilty of keeping hand grenades and unlicensed weapon last year within the jurisdiction of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station.

The ATC-VI judge Abdul Naeem Memon, who conducted the trial inside central prison, handed down 14 years imprisonment in explosive substances case and seven years for the offence of carrying an illicit weapon.

The court also ordered confiscation of the convict’s property and imposed fine. However, both sentences will run concurrently and the longest term will be counted as the total imprisonment.

Extortionists convicted

Another ATC sentenced on Friday two extortionists to five years imprisonment each.

Rasheed Khan and Dilawar were found guilty of demanding protection money from trader Mohammad Anwar by putting him in fear of death in 2013 in Pirabad.
