LAKKI MARWAT: The provincial government will spend Rs25 million on provision of furniture to the public sector schools in the district.

This was stated by district education officer (DEO) Haziqur Rehman during a surprise inspection visit to Government High School, Land Ahmadkhel on Wednesday. Lakki Marwat tehsil nazim Haji Hidayatullah Khan and ADO (P&D) Hashim Khan also accompanied him.

Mr Rehman said the process to purchase furniture, both for teachers and students, was in progress and the government-run schools would soon be equipped with the facility. “The provision of furniture will help put positive impact on learning activities,” he maintained.

The DEO also checked the attendance of teaching and non-teaching employees and conducted academic evaluation of students. He also talked to the teachers on the problems they and the students faced.

“No student of state-run school in the district will sit on floor in future,” he promised, saying the provincial government was spending millions of rupees on ensuring availability of basic facilities like drinking water, electrification, boundary wall, latrines and additional classrooms. He called upon teachers to perform their obligations honestly and focus on imparting quality education to students.
