Weird vegetables and fruits

The cover article “Weird vegetables and fruits” compiled by Benazir Raz was marvellous. All the pictures were superb too. I was surprised to know that such fruits and vegetables do really exist.

One of the weirdest was ‘Buddha’s hands’, which was really very weird. However, I would love to eat ‘Black Sapote’, aka chocolate pudding, which is a natural wonder in itself!

I would like to add here that ‘beh’ is the most delicious vegetable we have in (rural Sindh) in this season and those who have never tried it before should do so as the taste is unique and you would want for more.

Lack of good teachers

Teachers are often like parents who guide us toward the future and their wisdom is more powerful than anything else. But it is sad that many teachers get very low salaries and due to this they don’t perform with dedication.

Higher education is also facing many problems. There is lack of qualified teachers and updated books on science subjects. Therefore I request the government to please hire well-qualified teachers and dismiss teachers who are not knowledgeable in their subjects as they simply waste the students’ precious time.

A bad year for T20 cricket

The year 2015 has been a bad year for the Pakistan cricket team in T20 international matches.

Although they won six matches out of the 10 they played, four of the victories came against a weak team like Zimbabwe. Poor performances saw them lose the series 3-0 against England in UAE.

Among the players, only Shoaib Malik and Ahmed Shehzad hit a century each, with the average of 31.8 and 22.11 respectively. So we wish that the year 2016 will be better for the Pakistan cricket team as the ICC World Cup Twenty20 is just across the corner.

Friends of different kinds

This is with reference to the cover story “Friends of different kinds” by Wajeeha Rehan (YW, October 17, 2015).

It really was a good article. It is a fact that during the course of life we meet several kinds of friends as mentioned in the article. We learn many things from them. No doubt, friendship is one of the best relations in the world. I also have a good childhood friend.

The most important thing in friendship is having ‘trust’ on each other. If trust is broken between friends, then it’s hard to regain it. We should not deceive our friends.
