This is a wise deal by India. for purchase of 6 nuclear power plants India will receive S-400 air defence system, kamov-226 helicopter deal, support for UNSC seat and entry into NSG.

@Vic : It was not a military plane!. The "Chartered" plane belonged to BSF (Border Security Force), which comes under the Home Ministry rather than the Defense Ministry!.

@SANA It seems that you don't know much about India's foreign policy. India's close relationship with USA doesn't mean that it's anti-Russia. remember, Russia has always supported India in UNO and used VETO for India several times. and it's a very big deal because world is diverging from atomic energy due to its severe threats. no country is interested in atomic power plants after Fukushima tragedy in Japan and it'll surely bankrupt Russian nuclear companies. however India is willing to purchase nuclear units; and that's survival option for Russian nuclear firms.

In the unlikely event that India does manage to get a seat in UNSC, which has a remote change because of China, Israel will have two "friends" (India and the US) who will veto every legitimate motion against it.

@Cyrus India already has that technology and doesn't need Russia for Plutonium generation. Check some authentic sites and see. All have stopped using Fast Breeder Reactors but India is the one who is continuing to use it, obviously to extract all the power it can give to us, but not to make missiles. With Plutonium you can generate more power compared to Uranium 235 alone but Pu is not found in nature so you need breeders. You need to see the positive side of it not the negative side always.

Meke in India plan is going to get huge success in near future and it will end the dependence on foreign countries for military requirements and will create job and indigenous technology. There is a $100 billion plan to use solar and wind energy in India. All in all.....India is ON THE ROLL!!!:) Pakistanis note: we do not put all our eggs in one basket. I'll break a news for you. S400 will be nearly obsolete in one decade with maturity and deployment of 5th gen platforms, which is why russia need indian money to "fund" S500, which it might sell to india in 2035, at which point it would want to fund its next gen system. It's a vicious cycle and Russia has just tied that bell around india's tail.

These 6 reactor will not reduce the poverty in India one little bit only if this money is spent instead to reduce poverty it will help...Pakistan is improving its relations with Russia which is very good,now the times have changed India will not be able to play Russia against Pakistan. Not giving money to the common man, but creating wealth, jobs and life worth living. -- give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime -- Modi's above plans will create industrial base, create direct and indirect jobs, electricity generation (India already has excess power than demand - this will be for future), create wealth. Aspirations of the youth has to be satisfied - Youth should be provided job within the country and should be part of wealth creation for the nation.
