LAHORE: Irked by the Election Commission’s restrictions on participation of leaders of political parties in election campaigns, the opposition has decided to seek review of the election code of ethics.

Opposition leader Mian Mahmoodur Rashid on Monday submitted a resolution with the Punjab Assembly demanding that the ECP should review its code of ethics for allowing party heads to take part in the electioneering.

It argues that denying this right to the party chiefs is tantamount to denying democracy itself and the mover believes that the change in code will benefit democracy in the country.
