PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan inaugurated the first ever institute for street children, Zamung Kor (Our Home) on Friday.
Imran praised his ex-wife and the ambassador for street children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Reham Khan, for highlighting the difficulties faced by street children in the province, saying, "The idea for 'Zamun Kor' was first presented by Reham Khan, and I give her all my gratitude for the support she gave to this project.
Children will receive lodging, food, education and rehabilitation at the institute. The rehabilitation centre can facilitate over 1,000 children up to the age of 12 years.
The PTI Chairman said that even animal rights are cared for in the West but in Pakistan, street children were forced into lives afflicted by drug addiction. He said that KP would be made a welfare province.
Earlier in November, Imran Khan launched a donation appeal for a Rs800 million donation to purchase equipment for Peshawar's Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital which is scheduled to become operational on Dec 29 this year.

Excellent initiative. Truly reflects the mindset of Imran Khan and PTI. It was easier for him to construct a few flyovers and metro trains and win next election but by focusing on intangible projects such as this one and education, he is risking 2018 elections since our people mostly prefer visible and tangible projects. Long term projects are not the ones people vote for. Unfortunately!

Appreciate efforts of Imran Khan for the down trodden people of KPK in their life and also highly commendable act was the setting up of Cancer Hospital in his mother's memory.All past and present Cricketers should take part in social work of this nature. Afridi also now making some contribution.

its trully shameful that after decades freedom ,internal problems and economic advances that Pakistan has not been able to protect the coming generations from sexual abuse.,poverty ,slavery, violence ,starvation ,kidnappings and psychological stigma to this young souls. it's like children have no basic rights that is univerasally guaranteed in western countries ..what will it take for the Pakistan's government to enforce laws to save them as the situation is getting our of hand?

Right to information (RTI) Mobile courts, Addition of 300,000 new registrations in schools. 23,000 teachers trained. Bio-metric attendance for school teachers. Free insulin clinics. Revamping of the health system and hospitals. Bio-metric attendance for doctors. Most effective NAB. Self analysis of the PTI government. (sacked it's own ministers for corruption) Generation of hydro-electric power (over 300 projects)
These are just a few examples of PTI's works in KPK.
