KARACHI: The front-line combat units of the naval fleet successfully test-fired anti-ship guided missiles in the north Arabian Sea on Saturday, re-asserting the lethality, precision and efficacy of Pakistan Navy’s weapons systems.

The display of navy’s firepower, in which missiles were launched from surface and air units to hit targets with accuracy, was witnessed by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah and senior officers, from PNS Alamgir.

Praising the demonstration of professionalism during the test, Admiral Zakaullah expressed his satisfaction over the force’s combat readiness.

According to a press release, similar tests have been carried out by the navy in the recent past but the successful test-firing of the anti-ship guided missiles is another step in asserting the country’s combat potential.

While the navy was maintaining vigilance and optimum operational readiness to defend the maritime frontiers and safeguard national interests, the test would also serve as a deterrent for the forces inimical to Pakistan, it said.
