Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is on his way to TV

HARRY Potter actor Rupert Grint is coming to NBC with a put-pilot order for a new one-hour drama, according to sources. A put pilot generally means the network has agreed to air the pilot or could face a substantial penalty, so it seems likely we’ll see Ron Weasley’s TV magic on screen.

The untitled show reportedly follows a New Yorker, played by Grint, who is obsessed with a comic book called ‘Imperial City’ that was created by his dad before his death. After discovering he might not have all the issues of the comic, Grint’s character goes on an adventure that convinces him ‘Imperial City’ is real, and he needs to save it.

Grint is also reportedly producing on the project, so it’s pretty obvious NBC knows Ron Weasley is a keeper.

No social media!

THE Oscar-winning actress, Kate Winslet — who is mother to daughter Mia, 15, and sons Joe, 11, and Bear, 22 months — revealed that she and husband Ned Rocknroll have a ‘no social media’ policy in their home and are trying to cut down on the family’s usage of phones and tablet devices.

“It has a huge impact on young women’s self-esteem, because all they ever do is design themselves for people to like them,” the 40-year-old said in an interview.

“And what comes along with that? Eating disorders. And that makes my blood boil. And is the reason we don’t have any social media in our house.”

Winslet said parents should be taking mobile devices away from their children. “Let your kids climb trees. Take the device out of their hand. Play Monopoly! You go to a cafe and grown-ups are at one end of the table and children the other, on devices, not looking up.”

She said of children of the digital age, “They go into a world and parents let them. ... It takes every member of a family to be a member, and there are too many interruptions these days — and devices are a huge interruption.”
