Shisha clubs

Published November 9, 2015

IT is satisfying to know that the Lahore High Court has banned shisha smoking. Smoking tobacco is gaining popularity among our youth and dozens of shisha clubs have sprung up in Karachi to become the favourite hangouts of the young.

As a result the nicotine habit is making inroads among people, and they head to shisha clubs in increasing numbers to —literally — burn their money and also destroy their health in the process.

The increase in the number of people that smoke is also the reason that there has been an alarming rise in the diseases caused by prolonged tobacco use.

Smoking is the major cause of lung cancer.

The smoke is not only harmful for the addict but also all those around him. The state should do more to discourage people from smoking.
