ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of Law and Justice claims that between January 2012 and January 2015, there have been no reports of cases of harassment against women.

The Senator Pervaiz Rashid-led ministry has yet to clarify whether the lack of such cases is because of an awareness of women’s rights or because they were simply not reported.

According to the ministry, “not even a single case of harassment against women has come before the local courts.”

The ministry’s statistics are not so encouraging when it comes to cases of harassment against children. Over the last three years seven child kidnapping cases were put before the courts and 16 such cases are still waiting for a hearing.
