LAKKI MARWAT: The teachers and students of government postgraduate college, Lakki Marwat, on Saturday organised a walk to raise awareness about cleanliness.

Led by principal Sharifullah Khan, the walk started from the college building on Lakki-Tajazai road and ended at the Qazi Ishfaq square on the main bus stand. The participants carried banners and placards highlighting messages regarding importance of cleanliness.

On the occasion, the college’s principal said the teachers and students of the college were observing the cleanliness week with the aim to educate people on the importance of cleanliness and keeping the college clean and beautiful.

Sharifullah Khan said the college administration planned to arrange different activities in connection with the cleanliness week. He said Islam emphasised cleanliness, ‘therefore all of us should ensure keeping our surroundings clean and pollution-free’.

“Students are an effective tool to spread the message about the importance of cleanliness,” he maintained, saying the college students would take enthusiastic part in keeping the urban locality clean and neat.

“Cleanliness is also helpful to overcome environmental hazards and other problems facing the human beings,” he added. Sharifullah urged the students to launch cleanliness drive in their respective localities and pursue local residents to keep their environs clean.
