LAHORE: An exhibition-cum-competition of posters titled ‘Sympathy to Victims of Terrorism’ by students of different colleges and universities opened at the City Heritage Museum, The Mall, on Monday.

Inaugurated by Punjab government spokesman Zaeem Qadri, the exhibition was organised by Punjab Council of Arts (PCA).

PCA Deputy Director (Fine Arts) Naeem Ehsan told this scribe the show was the part of National Action Plan (NAP), the government’s initiative to curb terrorism in the country.

He said the students had put in a lot of effort into the exhibition. Their posters had meaty ideas and thought provoking work when it came to raise voice against the menace of terrorism.

The institutions participating in the exhibition showcasing over 150 posters include the Government College University, Lahore, Lahore College for Women University, Comsat University, BZU, GCU, Faisalabad, FG Postgraduate College for Women, Rawalpindi, Government Technical Institute, Township and Queen Marry College, Lahore.

The first prize of Rs50,000 was won by Maria Asim of Comsat University, second prize of Rs30,000 by Quratul Aien Tahir of GCU, Lahore, and the third of Rs20,000 was clinched by Saira Basit from GCU, Faisalabad.

Five consolation prizes of Rs10,000 each were also given to as many contestants.

The jury comprised Shahnawaz Zaidi, the former principal of College of Art and Design, University of Punjab, Prof Amjad Perviaz, College of Art and Design, PU, and Tevta Deputy General Manger Bushra Akhtar.

The exhibition will remain open till Oct 15.
