KARACHI: Islamabad achieved a tough target of 386 to beat Azad Kashmir by six wickets in the inaugural match of the eighth PBCC Agha Shaukat Ali Blind Cricket Trophy here at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy Ground on Monday.

In the other match of the day, played at the KCCA Cricket Ground here, Peshawar beat Gujranwala by 51 runs.

Earlier, KCCA president Prof. Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi inaugurated the tournament which is played every year to pay tribute to Late Agha Shaukat Ali, the founder chairman of Pakistan Blind Cricket Council.

Azad Kashmir put up a mammoth total of 386 on the board in stipulated 40 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Arfan Majeed sizzled with the bat and scored an unbeaten 137 not out while Rizwan Majeed struck a brilliant 108. Tanveer Ali took three wickets while Arslan claimed two.

In reply, Islamabad with the help of a dazzling knock of 126 not out from Zeeshan Gul 126 and a fluent 121 from Anees Javed chased the tough target in only 32.5 overs for the loss of four wickets.

In the other game, Gujranwala won the toss and asked Peshawar to bat first. Peshawar were bowled out for 346 runs in the 38th over. Masood Jan was highest scorer with 62 while Mohsin made 58.

Tayyab Rehmani took two wickets. In reply, Gujranwala were bowled out for 294 in 34.5 overs. Israr was their lone warrior, scoring an unbeaten 136. Masood Jan and Mohsin took two wickets each.
