Pakistan wants peace in region: PAF chief

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman has said that Pakistan wants peace with all countries in the region, including India, and blame game by anyone in this regard does not serve any purpose.

Addressing participants of the National Defence Course at the National Defence University, Washington DC, on Friday, he said: “First, we have to understand the regional dynamics and secondly, find out comprehensive strategies to fight the menace of terrorism together.”

Stability in Afghanistan and long-term solutions to all the outstanding issues in the Middle East, he said, were some of the pre-requisites for ensuring peace in the region.

Hence, the peace process in Afghanistan needs to be “supported in true letter and spirit” and all the stakeholders — Pakistan, Afghanistan and Taliban — should engage in serious dialogue fully backed by the international community, he said.

Sir, just out of curiosity. If Afghanistan Taliban are stake holder just on basis of their ability to cause unrest , why notTTP . Solution to problem will not come till hypocrisy of establishment does not change. Pls not view everything through barrel of the gun

is it some type of joke when whole of pakistan giving nuclear threat openly. Pakistanis are too much afraid of Indian army thats why they are not signing no first use accord. Their lives hang on nuclear missile and cpec. "We will eat grass but will make bomb' is the national slogan of pakistan.

@Uzair Azam Apart from weapon power which Pakistan has,it also means power of skilled men/women, power of wealth/finance, power of knowledge/intellect/imagination and above all powerful/ respectable leaders of masses and defense establishment.

@khurram Taliban were the government before before US intervention in 2001 and they were the most established and stable government in last 40 years in KABUL. Do you think they don't have public support? Or will they forfeit their right as political entity? Afghanistan is a country of warlords. It is not ruled by institutions until now. How these things compare to anything in Pakistan?

@khurram TTP is a foreign sponsored terrorist phenomena, nothing to do with the Afghan Taliban who are fighting against the foreign occupation of their country. Its quite bizarre that people are still equating the two after things being made abundantly clear by the events in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
