THERE are two things that children give the most importance to — their toys and art! Yes, all the messy stuff related to art which include brushes, paints, pencils, stencils, clay dough, etc.
Some kids shift their interest to some other thing with time, while some children’s passion for art grows even more as they get old. So for our young enthusiastic artists, we are exploring artforkidshub.com, a site which is all about art — painting, drawing and sculpting.
The site is hosted by Rob (exterior designer for Ford Company) and it offers basic to advance information, tips, tutorials, step-by-step guideline for drawing, painting and sculpting. All the lessons are short and simple, focussing on younger artists and the homepage is where children can start.
The main menu is at the top centre from where you can choose the category you are interested in. The first is ‘How to draw’, in this section you learn drawing, of animals, Mario, dinosaur and also learn how to shade. Shading is an essential part in making a great drawing, though older kids understand quickly and do better, it is not too early to start even for a four-year-old, and younger kids are highly encouraged here.
Then you have ‘How to paint’ section, there is a lot of beautiful stuff that you can learn here like painting blossoms, bat, car or may be a woodpecker interests you. It all depends on whether you want to paint an animal or a gadget. In ‘Sculpting for kids’, you learn things made with clay dough and the art of origami.
And if you have younger siblings, the site will become real fun when you will make his/her learning easier by showing the shapes and making various animals out of them. So kids under five years of age can also learn art as it is made pretty easy for them. Lastly, for ‘older kids’, this section gives tips and tutorials on use of charcoal, shading and drawing from life.
The site also creates step-by-step and ‘colouring printables’ for every ‘how to draw’ episode, which you can get after subscribing to the site. It is then sent directly to your inbox on Mondays!
