LAHORE: A spokesman for the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) says all affairs pertaining to LDA City are being dealt with in a transparent manner and the impression about irregularities or wrongdoings in the scheme is unfounded.

Responding to a news report on NAB inquiry into some public complaints, he said the processes for handling different matters of LDA City had been adopted after getting necessary approval from the competent forum and there was nothing wrong about the housing scheme.

The spokesman said so far not a single complaint about the scheme had been shared with LDA by NAB.

“LDA, however, welcomes a probe by NAB and is willing to furnish record of LDA City for examining. At this stage, it is premature to negatively opine about affairs of LDA City,” he added.

The spokesman said transparency had been the hallmark of all the development projects executed by LDA in recent years. Certification by Transparency International, declaring Pakistan’s first ever Metro Bus Project, executed by LDA in Lahore, as transparent, was acknowledgement of the manner how projects were implemented by LDA.

He said LDA had voluntarily offered record of the Metro Bus Project to the Transparency International for examining procurement process, award of contract and other aspects of the project.

The spokesman said LDA had earned appreciation at all levels in the country by setting new standards of quality of work, transparency in spending and speedy completion of development works in minimum possible time.
