NEW YORK: Three dossiers have been submitted at the office of the Secretary General of the United Nations on Indian interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs and support for terrorism in the country, according to Adviser to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.
He said at a press conference on Thursday that the dossiers contained documents relating to India’s interference and support for terrorism in Balochistan, Fata through TTP and in Karachi.
These were handed over to the Secretary General’s Chief of Staff Susana Malcorra by Pakistan’s Ambassador to UN Maleeha Lodhi.
Mr Aziz said each dossier comprises 15-20 pages and discussions on UN action on the documents would take place later.
He said the documents contained “solid proofs” and their content might be shared in due course of time. He rejected allegations levelled by Indian Foreign Minister in her speech at the UN about Pakistan abetting terrorism.
He said “India is trying to avoid dialogue on one pretext or the other and since all doors have been barred, we were left with no option but to hand over the dossiers to the UN Secretary General.”
“While they are accusing us of sponsoring non-State actors, in Pakistan India’s state actors are involved in terrorist activities,” Mr Aziz said.
Mr Aziz said Pakistan had always supported a dialogue with India for a peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues.
He said the joint statement issued in the Russian town of Ufa following the meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi, clearly states that the two sides would discuss all issues, and the meeting of the National Security Advisers would deal only with the issue of terrorism.
He said India insisted that the talks should focus only on terrorism, while Pakistan insisted discussion on all issues. During the composite dialogue process the two countries are holding talks simultaneously on eight different areas, “but now they are only stuck on terrorism.”
Mr Aziz said Pakistan conveyed its stance, in its statements and during our interaction with key world leaders on the sidelines of 70th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly. He pointed out that the US supported dialogue between Pakistan and India.
About the situation in Afghanistan, he said Pakistan had serious concern over the developments, especially following the attack on Kunduz, the strategic Northern Afghan city. Pakistan stands for peace and stability in Afghanistan and looks forward to resumption of the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process. He said the US and China were fully supportive of this process.
