KARACHI: A 55-year-old man was shot dead in a suspected sectarian attack a year and a half after his son had been killed for the same reason in Liaquatabad, according to the Super Market police.

The officials said that Asad Ibrahim, a rickshaw driver, was attacked by armed motorcyclists near his home in Liaquatabad-II on Wednesday.

He sustained critical gunshot wounds in the head and was transported to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, the police said.

“He was killed most probably on sectarian grounds,” said SSP-Central Muqaddas Haider.

The officer said one and half years ago the victim’s son had been killed in the same neighbourhood on sectarian grounds.

The police investigators later collected two spent bullet casings fired from 0.9mm pistol from the crime-scene.
