ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has criticised the leak of information about the identity of some of the militants killed in the Friday’s attack on the PAF camp near Peshawar and said that the release of the information to the media was premature and could adversely affect the investigation.

A statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson said that the minister had expressed his displeasure over the leak and ordered an inquiry to ascertain how this information was revealed to the media.

The terrorists had been identified on the day of the attack and their identities were kept secret for the purposes of the investigation, the statement said.

It said that at least eight of the attackers did not appear to be of Pakistani origin and their identities were yet to be established, which would require more time.

The statement deplored that the premature release of the information could lead to speculations that would be detrimental to the investigation.
